2022 Ford Edge vs. Escape MPG & Towing Capacity
Another important feature to distinguish the two SUVs is the engine performance. The 2022 Ford Escape has generally lighter, more efficient engines, and has a plug-in hybrid option. The Escape comes standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD), but this can be upgraded to all-wheel drive (AWD). If the plug-in hybrid engine is taken, the Escape has the electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT).
The 2022 Ford Edge, due to its larger size, generally uses a heavier, more powerful engine. The Edge comes standard with AWD and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
